Dear Colleague:

I would like to invite you to visit mathleague.org's website and to
consider hosting a math contest for us during the 2007-08 school year.
mathleague.org oversees a number of math contests and several
state-level high school championship meets. In addition, mathleague.org
offers junior high contest materials to help students prepare for
Mathcounts. For more information about the junior high contests, or to
inquire about hosting such a contest, please visit the website..

If you wish to host a high school contest, you may do so whether or not
your site is in an area where we offer a championship meet; we invite
potential hosts to contact us regardless of location. For those of you
who have hosted tournaments recently, I will give you first priority in
your area for the release date closest to when you usually run your meet
if you decide to host a tournament this year. As a tournament host, you
would order tests from mathleague.org for $100 (plus a small additional
fee if your site is attended by more than 200 students). This
investment can often be recovered several times over depending on what
rate you charge participants as an entry fee; please inquire about
international rates if your school is outside the US. You would then
host a tournament on one of our release dates, and send us the
tournament results on a computerized template we will provide so we can
compile results and (where applicable) determine who has qualified for
the championship meet. The dates we have established for this school
year are as follows:  Sept 29, Nov 3, Dec 8, Jan 12, Feb 9, and Mar 1;
the championship meets will be held on April 19. If your school is not
located in one of the states where we currently offer championship
meets, and you would like to help set up a championship meet in your
state or province, please contact me for more information.

Once you have decided on a date for your contest, please go to
http://mathleague.org/hostform.php and fill out the form so that we can
put your contest in the database. If you have any questions, I can be
reached via email at mathleague at mathleague.org or by phone at
1-877-872-5244 in the US or +18162103147 elsewhere. Also, we can
certainly use your help in recruiting additional tournament sites and
spreading the word about mathleague.org to the educators in your area.
Finally, please let me know if you wish to be removed from this list as
I send out future mathleague.org announcements.
